ITC
The
ITC (Imperial Tobacco Company of India Limited) was initially named as British
American Tobacco Company started in August 24, 1910. It was under British
ownership. By 1970, the company shares were bought by Indians and the company
name was changed to Indian Tobacco Company Limited. By 1974, the company name was changed to ITC Limited. The
company’s headquarters is located at Kolkata named as Virginia House.
The
first business was Cigarettes and Leaf Tobacco Businesses. ITC’s packaging and printing
business was setup at 1925. In 1975, the hotels business was started by ITC
named as ITC Welcom Group and Chola. In 1979, Paperboard business was started.
In 1985, ITC’s subsidiary named Surya Tobacco Co was started at Nepal. In 1990, Agri Business Division was started. In 2000, Lifestyle Retailing was started. In 2000, Information Technology business was started.

2001, Branded packaged foods was initiated. In 2002, Paperboards and Specialty Papers
Division was started. The Education and stationery products named Classmate,
Paperkraft, Colourcrew was started. It
was India’s first environment friendly business.
In 2002, Agarbattis and safety matches business was launched. In 2005, the Personal Care products were launched. In 2010, the Tobacco portfolio was expanded to hand rolled cigar named Armenteros.
